beIN Media Group has obtained a ruling in the courts to prohibit the sale of a pirated IPTV in Tunisia. The packages attract attention for their ridiculously low price: 30 Tunisian dinars for 18 months, which is about R$3 per month. Meanwhile, the official subscription costs around R$106 per month.
beIN has filed a lawsuit against Tunisian electronics retailer MyTek and won an injunction in its favor. The decision prevents the store from selling IPTV products with pirated beIN channels. So far, however, the items continue to appear on the site.
The media giant says that 80% of Tunisian consumers use illegal television services.
Pirate IPTV costs less than 3% of the official
MyTek offers two annual IPTV packages called Global IPTV and Tivosat. The first costs 25 Tunisian dinars, which is R$46 per year, or about R$3.80 per month.
The cheapest package, however, is the 18-month package. It costs less than 30 dinars, or about R$55. It costs about R$3 per month.
Another option is a streaming box with Android and 12 months of IPTV for 89 dinars, around R$162. Smartphones and smart TVs sold by the company also come with these “gifts”.
Official beIN subscriptions sold on MyTek are much more expensive: three months cost 189 dinars, which is roughly R$109 per month.
The most advantageous package is still very expensive: 699 Tunisian dinars for 12 months — about R$106 per month.
